Quite often when speaking with a Veteran you will hear them say “I’m all set I use the VA”  where do you go from there?

Congratulate them on their dedication to the VA.  I always say thank you but then follow with asking if I can ask them 3 questions –

• If you were to have an accident and an ambulance picks you up – do you believe they will take you to the VA?
• If you are told that you need a service or surgery and you would like a second option outside the VA, do you want coverage to help cover that cost?
• If you’re traveling across the US and need to be seen do you believe the local VA will have records for you or know who you are?

The importance of this training is to help guide them.  Like a AAA card they have in their wallet.  They don’t have to use it, but when they need it, they have it.
