Spring is in the Air!

Do you feel it?  The days are getting longer, temperatures are starting to rise, and college basketball is about to enter into madness.  It’s not quite here yet but Spring is just around the corner.

While Spring is about to start, something else is nearing its end… OEP is set to end on 3/31.  If you have Medicare Advantage clients experiencing frustration or uneasiness with their current MAPD plan and want to come over or return to a Humana option, please complete that OEP enrollment before the end of the month.

Along with this, nearly 5.5 million or 94% of Humana’s Medicare Advantage members currently are enrolled in plans rated 4 stars and above for 2024 by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

OEP & Other Election Periods

Election Periods are the root of some of the most commonly asked questions by agents.  There is AEP, OEP, SEP and then there are subcategories of Election Periods depending on if the client is aging into Medicare, recently moved, just had a change in Medicaid status, etc…

Understanding & navigating all the various Election Periods can be daunting but here at Humana we got you covered. Below is guidance on the current Open Election Period (OEP) that runs through the end of March and a link to Humana’s Election Period Playbook that covers the most used Election Periods.

Service Inquiry

If you are not aware of it already, please take some time to get yourself familiar with Humana’s Service Inquiry function within your Humana Vantage portal.  This is your spot as an Agent to be able to help your clients quickly & efficiently with any of their service needs…including Access to Care issues and support for the Humana Spending Account Card.

Service Inquiry options include but are not limited to:

  • Ordering a new ID card
  • Updating member demographic info (address, phone #, etc…)
  • Checking on & assisting with claims issues
  • Verifying benefit questions (including Health Options Card questions)

Average response time is same day, and most service issues are fully resolved within 24-48 hours.  There is also an option within Service Inquiry to have Humana’s member service team make an outbound call to your client to assist with a service issue.  Yes, you can call the Humana customer service team and will get good support from our phone-based service team but if you want to avoid hold times, miscommunication or other pitfalls then please check out the Service Inquiry tool in your Vantage portal.
